Cricket: Unity makes a difference, Bucknor shown the door
Steve Bucknor may one of the most hated cricket official (umpire/referee) in India. Remember India’s tour in South Africa in 2002? When match referee Mike Dennis made a new record when he punished 6 Indian players and banned some from playing in the next test. It erupted one of the biggest row in history of cricket. The board intervened and finally the matter was settled.
This time Bucknor is the center of the story. He has been stranded alone in a corner as most of the umpires hold the view that “Bucknor should quit”. It was due to the intervention of BCCI (though it was late), then ICC sacked this biased umpire from standing in the next tests. People may argue that umpires are also human and can make mistakes. The question still remains unanswered- “11 wrong decisions in the test and all went against India”. Even the third umpire made one mistake. This is not a just a coincidence but India is being the center of attack.
Another such controversy was of Harbhajan Singh calling Symonds a “monkey”! It was racist? Can you ever believe that an Indian can issue racist remarks when they have long faced such oppression. They know the pains of this tradition. Gandhiji was thrown out of train in South Africa in his days. His *satyaraha* led to radical changes in the society. We can say that India is still the victim of racism. Even though Sachin said that he didnt hear anything, umpires denied having heard anything,no audio proof, still match referee imposed a three match ban on Harbhajan. On what grounds? Is match referee too with Australia?
The Aussies are also to be blamed. The controversial catch out is the most shocking moment of the match. Even though the team knew that the ball had tipped, Ponting showed how low can he fall and said the umpire that they have really taken the catch. Liars! Shame on you, you dont know what is cricket! You are the winners not champions, King of Sledging.
Finally India cant play with eleven players against a fifteen player team. Its injustice!
